Flower Girl

I have been scrapbooking enough lately to actually go back and scrap some of the photos that I had printed from a while back!  I was working chronologically for a while and then decided to deviate from that and create what suited my fancy at the moment.  Now that I am waiting for more pictures to arrive, I am having fun looking back to my old stash!

                             MLS Sketch 1

This layout was made using the My Little Shoebox sketch challenge sketch created by Aphra Bolyer.  She has wonderful sketches that I love to create with!  This is the first time that I have journaled around a page and I really like how it looks.  I may have to do that more often!  I used bits of the My Little Shoebox "All A Flutter" collection which I won in a random (extremely generous) drawing on Melanie Stanczyk's blog.  Since this is the only way I was able to get my hands on some MLS products (with the exception of purchasing online), I had to make the most with what I had, yet save enough for future projects!  (Yes, I am a paper hoarder, I freely admit it : )  The title at the bottom is also from MLS.  The thing that I love about the letters is that you can use the negative image after punching out the letter since it is on a precut square.  Like this....http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/shop/my-little-shoebox/99791-daffodil-chipboard-alphabet/?filters=my-little-shoebox.  I should also mention that there is a lot of dimension on this layout, it is just so hard to tell unless you see it in person!  Perhaps I will take more pictures and add them to show you.  The paper is so bright and cheery!  I just loved playing with it.  Have you seen their new collections for CHA2011 yet?  Oh my word!  Truly amazing!  I hope to get my hands on some of that sometime soon!  Thanks for stopping by!

To Make Your Day Brighter

I found out recently that there are a couple of friends who are going through some difficult times and could really use a little "pick-me-up".  I've had this little lamp template on my craft table for a while and I thought that I'd use it to make a couple of cards.  I wish I could remember where I got the template from to give them credit but I didn't write it down when I printed off the template.  I apologize in advance for the lighting.  The natural sunlight here in winter leaves much to be desired!

I used the Melody Ross Collection "Homespun Chic" which I picked up at Hobby Lobby when they had 40% off of their paper packs.  I have been admiring the collection for a while but was not sure if I could pull off something of this style.  Fortunately, it all came together pretty well!  I only used one sheet, Blue Redwork, and the rest of the embellishments I just had in my stash.
On the inside of the card I used a bright yellow to represent the "light" going on.  I think that I am too literal sometimes :-)  I also included the sentiment, "A little note to brighten your day" on the inside.  I am excited to play with this collection a little bit more.  There are some really fun papers in there.
On another note, I pulled out some older pictures last night and have started scrapbooking those.  They are from about two years ago.  I haven't created pages from that long ago for a while so we'll see where my mojo goes with that!  I *really* want to try to stay current in 2011, yet continue to create pages that remember the small moments, not just the chronological events of the year .  We'll see what happens!

Thank you for stopping by!

Simple and Sweet

I am lucky enough to have a little scrapbooking sidekick when I am in my craft room.  My daughter is in love with anything that has paper or adhesive and loves to make her own creations right along with me.  So, naturally for Valentine's Day, I wanted to make her special Valentine incorporate a little crafty flair.  I thought I would play along with the monthly challenge from Imaginisce and "find" an old item, or something that could be re-purposed and re-used.  I didn't have to look far!  Since I often have to search her table for my supplies, particularly ribbon, I knew that this would be the perfect item to re-purpose!

Instead of making a card for her, like I usually do, I wrote my sentiment on paper and wound it around the empty ribbon spool.  I used the Lucy Bird collection from Imaginisce to make it appeal to her tastes.  I know she will love it.  Now I just have to wait until Valentines Day to give it to her!  Thanks for stopping by!

Gray is the New Black

Can I just say that I have become quite the fan of www.moxiefabworld.com?  There are always such fun challenges that I want to try.  Now if only I had the time to try them all!  At any rate, here is a card that I made up for the Gray is the New Black Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.
I had fun making this one up and choosing the colors because really, there are so many colors that go with gray!  These particular colors spoke to me the most : )  I have so many people that I could send it to, now I just need to make that decision!  It is hard to tell, but the background paper has a really pretty shimmer to it.  I wish it would photograph better!  Hope you enjoy!

Materials Used:
  • Gray Cardstock: American Crafts Damask Cardstock
  • Ivory Shimmer Paper: Recollections
  • Silhouette was used for the die cut work
  • Ribbon: Cosmo Cricket
  • Flowers: Creative Memories
  • Silver Brads: American Crafts
  • Silver Bling: Recollections
  • "You're Amazing" stamp: Basic Gray
  • Ivory Circle Cardstock: Recollections
  • Circle Punch: Creative Memories
  • Blank Card: Recollections
I have so much more that I am working on right now.  I need to share some of my scrapbook layouts soon too.  I have so many that I have completed lately!  I need more hours in the day.  Hope you have a fabulous Monday!

Winter White Fun

Each Tuesday over at moxiefabworld.com they do something called "Tuesday Trigger". They provide a picture to inspire you and then encourage you to create something using that trigger.  I thought I would play along this week since I wanted to create a baby card anyway!

Here is the trigger picture:
I was inspired by the layers that the cake had (along with the color)  so I thought that I would make a card with several layers.  I found some cute eyelet lace with hearts, along with border punches and ribbon. What I didn't anticipate was how difficult it would be to photograph an all white card!  I must have taken 20+ photos!  Although it is hard to see, some of the paper is glittery and some is shiny.  I love the different variations of white as well.  Hope you like my interpretation!

A Bit of Hope

I am so excited to show you the card that I made recently!  Robin over at mypinkstamper.com is having an open call for a design team member.  Since I check in with her blog daily, I thought it would be fun to try to create something and give it a go!
The challenge was to create something that used the colors brown, pink and green and one other optional color, using your favorite Cricut cartridge.  This seems to be my "go to" cartridge so I chose this one!  When I found this brown flocked butterfly paper, I knew immediately it was what I would use.  (Plus it was on sale...even better!)  As I was making this card, I kept thinking of a friend of a friend who is battling cancer right now.  She kept popping into my head so I decided that when all is said and done, I am going to send this card out to her.
I like to use my Cricut, especially for cards, and this design is one that I really enjoy.  I love the soft filigree look to it which was the look I was going for.  The word "hope" gave the card meaning with one simple word.
Overall, this is probably one of my favorites that I have made in a while!  I hope that you enjoy it too!

These are the supplies that I used:

  • Cricut Cartridge: Calligraphy Collection
  • Blank white card: Recollections
  • Brown flocked butterfly paper: Anna Griffin Inc.
  • Yellow & Pink Cardstock: Creative Memories
  • Green glitter cardstock: American Crafts
  • Flowers: Creative Memories, Prima Flowers
  • Hope word: Making Memories wire words-emotions
  • Brad: American Crafts
  • Ribbon: American Crafts
  • Adhesive: Xyron, Glue Dots mini
  • Butterfly: Taken off of a greeting card : )
Have a great day!
