Happy Monday!  Today I thought I'd share a layout that I made for some fun challenges over at Scrapbooksteals.com.  The challenge was a Gender Swap layout.  Try to use boy papers on a girl layout or vice versa.  Since I have kids of both genders, finding something to scrap with was not difficult.  Finding pictures of my daughter that I wanted to put with them was the challenge! Since she is a little athlete, I thought that these papers, from the My Mind's Eye Breaking Free line, would go well with her action soccer shots.  The additional challenge with this layout was a Numbers Recipe.  Five patterned papers, nine buttons, seven brads, etc.  It's all there, I promise : )  I should add that when she saw the layout, she loved it and then asked what "deter-mined" meant (read that "deter", rhyming with wetter and "mined" rhyming with fined.)  We will brush up on vowels in our summer reading time, I promise!

I was also asked to create a sketch challenge for others to try.  I will post that sometime this week as well!  It is really fun to see other people create a layout based on something floating around in my mind!  Thank you for stopping by today!

Summer Camp

My nephew is heading to camp next week and is hoping to break the camp record for receiving the most mail for one camper.  I went to Archivers scrapbook store yesterday and I found some paper to create a few cards with.  The "Happy Camper" collection from Imaginisce was perfect and the Fireside Fun paper leant itself well to make a couple of cards.  Here they are...
Card #1
Card #2

For the first card I stamped the background and then added to paper strips.  I then cut out little trees on my Silhouette.  They are actually part of a Christmas tree set with a star, etc. but I made them into regular ol' pine trees!  The first card is also for the Die Cuttin' Diva's Blog Challenge.  The second card was fun to make as well.  I love the birds!  After I finished, it needed a little something more so I cut the sunshine on my Silhouette and then cut in in half to peek out from the paper strip.  I think he will be getting a lot of fresh air so this should be perfect!
I am hoping that he can break the record at camp and hopefully these cards will brighten his day a bit as well!  Thanks for stopping by! Scrap Happy~Melissa

Out of the Box

I created a layout recently that is quite outside of my typical scrappy layouts!  The colors, the use of many buttons and the design are not like my usual layouts.  It was really kind of exciting to stop outside of my norm to try something else out!  The layout is based on a sketch from the super talented Lisa Zubritsky for www.scrapbooksteals.com.  I just thought that I would post something that is a little different for today! I think my favorite part of this layout is my paper airplane that I cut from my Silhouette and the stitching that is the trail of it!  I think I see more paper airplanes featured in upcoming layouts. Thanks for stopping by!  Scrap Happy~Melissa

Fun for Father

I am really making an effort to make most of my cards rather than buy them.  Since my husband is so supportive of my scrapping hobby (read: obsession) I thought it would only make sense to create a homemade card for him too!  I found a great sketch on the Mojo Monday Sketch Blog that I thought I would give it a try.  I wanted to do something with the mustache trend that is out there since I always tell him that I prefer facial hair on him anyway ; )  Here is the card and the sketch...
And a side view to see a little more of the dimension...
The sketch...
The inside of the cards says, "You are an amazing Daddy!  Happy Father's Day!"  I used some of my Sassafras Monstrosity Collection for this layout.  I love that collection so much.  Pure fun!  Thanks for taking a  look today!  Have a fabulous weekend!

Paper Love

Did you ever find a scrapbook collection that you just couldn't pass up?  I have had the American Crafts "Abode" collection for quite some time now but I have hesitated to use it.  Partly because I didn't really want to cut into the papers and partly because I just wasn't sure what kind of photos to use with it.  Well, needless to say, my waiting is over!  I had so much fun making some cards and a layout and I already have plans to make more with it!
This layout was a fun one to create.  It came together quickly because all of the pieces for this collection just coordinate so well together.  We were able to puppy sit for my sisters dog a while back.  My kids were overjoyed since they love Doolittle.  She was a trooper and really let my kids do what they wanted as long as she could lick them non-stop!

These are two anniversary cards that I made for relatives with the Abode collection as well.  I am absolutely in love with that salt & pepper sticker.  It doesn't get much better than that!  The top card was for my grandparents who have been married for 63 years!  I can only hope to have a long, happy marriage like theirs!
As always, thank you for stopping by!  Scrap Happy~melissa
