When a Card Becomes a Layout

I found a great sketch over at Sketch~N~Scrap's blog and I really liked it. However, I had an idea to use it for a layout rather than a card, and since the rules said that was acceptable...here it is!

This layout totally makes me smile. I was at CHA back in 2012 and I had so much fun meeting all of the people I read about in the industry or on their blogs. Cosmo Cricket's Julie Comstock in particular is one of my favorites! Her blog is so entertaining! She seems so fun and she is crazy talented. Therefore, I was really nervous to meet her. What if she thought I was crazy stalkerish? What if she didn't want her photo taken? What if I gushed too much?

Well, after being literally pushed over to her (I didn't want to bother her from setting up her booth), I introduced myself and asked for a photo. She was very gracious, very sweet and very kind. Exactly how I thought she would be! So, I managed to not be too embarrassed and got this photo of her and I together. And yes, I've waited a year to scrap it!

My guess is that she'd be completely embarrassed at how highly I think of her skill and talent. My hope however, is that she finds happiness in the fact that she made my CHA trip even better by being able to meet her!

Thanks for stopping by!

(Late night scrapping and sketch challenge deadlines equal photos taken with ipad rather than my lovely Canon, hence the quality of photo! My apologies!)

More of the WRMK "Harvest" Collection & a New Tool!

I hope that you enjoyed seeing the layout I posted yesterday featuring the new "Harvest" collection from WRMK! I have another layout for you today, again featuring "Harvest", but using some of the other colors from the collection.

I also had the chance to use the new Corner Mounter tool with this collection. I loved using it particularly for the postcard (upper left) and just to give the layout a different look to it! I love it because it can mount anything from photos up to 5"x7", business cards, mattes, and more. Plus, you can create slits in 3 styles (angle, round, and stub), and 8 sizes! So, it is a very versatile tool!

I seriously love using WRMK tools. I didn't realize how many of them that I had until actually looked at my collection of them recently. They are always coming out with something new!

Speaking of which, did you see the incredible little crafting space they introduced at CHA?  It is the Fold Down Craft Table and I do believe I need want it! I've been measuring walls tying to find the best spot to put it. If it actually happens, I will definitely post some photos!

As a reminder, the Harvest will begin shipping in September..which will be here before we know it! Yikes!

Do you have a favorite crafting tool? I always love to hear about new tools and such! Leave me a comment and let me know!

Pinspired Challenge

I just had to create something for the Pinspired Challenge this time around! This inspiration photo was just to good to pass up! Look at those corals and greens and polka dots!

So, I made this sweet little card for my husband's coworker. It may be difficult to tell what the colors are but I definitely stuck with the corals and greens from the inspiration photo! I also couldn't pass up the polka dots (when have I ever passed up polka dots? Never!!) So, I added a few little vellum circles as a subtle little border!

I really love the little turtle too! I did some paper piecing to put him together. I love his little ice pack!

And what do you know? Two blog updates in one day? I may have just seen a pig fly! ;) Happy day everyone!

*NEW* We R Memory Keepers Scrappy Goodness

CHA had so many amazing new collections and scrapbook goodness! I was positively thrilled to have the chance to design with some amazing, new goodies from WRMK for them to display at the show.

One of the new items is chevron washi tape! Yep, you heard that correctly, chevron washi tape. It was so fun to work with and I had a great time creating this layout to showcase it a bit.

I love how when the chevron tape was overlapped, it created another color and added some depth to the look of the tape. The washi was also very easy to work with and it allowed me to lay it out and then change it up a bit if I wanted to.

Also, this entire new collection is called "Harvest" and I loved using it! The colors are so fall like but it also has a lot of other color with it as well. My post for tomorrow will showcase more color options for this collection. "Harvest" is set to ship in September so you should be able to look for it then!

Lastly, I feel so lucky to not only the opportunity to create for WRMK but that this truly is my view looking out my backyard! This was the morning sun hitting the trees which had me dashing outside with my camera one morning before school to capture it! I love my backyard!

So...what do you think? Do you like "Harvest"? Will you be looking for chevron washi tape at your scrapbook store? Let me know! I love to read your comments!

Holy CHA Goodness!

So, have you seen all of the new CHA goodies that were introduced this past week? Wow! There is so much that I want to add to my collection. Do I need any of it? Umm...no! But, I still want! Here are a few of my favorites...

Have you seen the adorable new line from Bella Blvd. called "Snapshots"?

I am particularly in love with this sheet "Family Chaos" since that seems so sum up my summer. Pure crazy family chaos love around here!

And, did you see the amazing giveaway that Bella Blvd. is doing? Be sure to check out their incredible prize being offered --here--!

I also found this line called "Hey Kid" from Pink Paislee so fun and so practical (for me anyway)!

And, I also fell in love with this line "Say Cheese" from Simple Stories which has a Disney vibe to it without being overtly Disney!

Is there anything that you feel is a "must have" from CHA? I'd LOVE to know what you saw and loved in case I missed it! Thanks for stopping by today!

Celebrate with Kiwi Lane and Downtown Tape

Good Morning! Today I am up on the Kiwi Lane blog with a project that was near and dear to my heart. I created a fun little birthday theme for my sweet girl using my Kiwi Lane  Designer Templates and Downtown Tape. I particularly focused on the Wacky templates (shown below) to create some birthday fun!

I'd love it if you would stop on over at the Kiwi Lane blog today to see all of the things that I created for her birthday celebration! Using the washi tape from Downtown Tape was such a pleasure. I LOVE the patterns they have and they are so user friendly...I can stick, unstick, restick and stick again, without ruining my paper or losing the adhesive of the tape!

Now, I am already thinking about a theme or "look" to go with next year when she is officially a teen! Any suggestions? I love planning parties so being able to think about it all year works well for me! As always, thank you for stopping by!

My Happy Place

You know the times when you go to the doctor and have blood drawn? Or you are dealing with one of those moments you really don't want to be in the location you are at that moment? For me, I go, in my mind, to my happy place. All is well there and I can forget the unpleasantness of my current situation.

A few years ago, I was invited to go to the Turks & Caicos Islands in the Caribbean. The moment I stepped onto the beach, it dawned on me that this was my happy place...in real life!

Since that first time, I've been blessed to go back two more times, the most recent of which was last week.

This is the only tropical place I've ever been and it still amazes me every morning that I wake up to it!

I am really looking forward to getting some photos printed and scrapbooking this amazing place!

So, if you've been wondering why I haven't shared much on my blog lately, this is the beautiful reason why.  I am so grateful.
