RCC December challenge: Anything Goes!

Hello! Today I am really excited to share with you a special gift that I put together for the Ribbon Carousel Challenge. Giving gift cards is sometimes the perfect gift for a certain person. My mother-in-law happens to be one of those people! So, I created this little gift card book for her!

I used the adorable WRMK North Pole collection for this book along with a perfect cut from the Silhouette store created by Jamie Cripps . It is perfect for presenting multiple gift cards in a pretty and organized way!

Using these papers made for an easy combination of color and prints. All of the papers coordinate very easily together. I loved how the book was put together too. Very easy to assemble! I added a little envelope to the back page with the receipts in it as well, just in case any of the cards weren't working properly!

Don't forget that the theme for the RCC December challenge is...Anything Goes! So, be sure to link up your creation >>here<< and show off your creativity!

Thank you for stopping by today! If you are celebrating today or tomorrow, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful, blessed 2014!

Be Merry! Be Hairy!

The mustache craze doesn't seem to be going away just yet so I decided to play with it a bit and create this card for the holidays!

Interestingly enough, my inspiration came from a gift card that I spotted while standing in line at a local store. I was trying to think of a clever sentiment to use and this one kept sticking with me so I just decided to go with it! :) Simple and it makes me laugh a bit!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you are Merry and only hairy if you choose to be!

Voilà...Magic Money Present!

I love this time of year since it gives me the chance to use some of the fun Silhouette cuts that I have in my collection! With some of my realtives, money is always a welcome gift but I'd rather not just stick it in a card. So I made this!

It looks like an ordinary gift until you pull up the top and see some of the good stuff! :)

Very simple, but a fun way to dress up a common holiday gift! Speaking of gifts, since we are expecting a snowstorm for tomorrow, I am SO excited to just be home with my family, wrap the rest of my gifts, frost some cookies and just soak in the Christmas spirit! Isn't it just the best when you can be home taking in your holiday decorations and just *being*? My favorite part of whole Winter Break! What's your favorite part of the holidays?

Thanks for stopping by today!

Merry Birthday!

We have a sweet niece who has a birthday very close to Christmas. One thing that I like to do is to use some of my holiday paper for traditional cards/layouts. It really is versatile when you think outside of the usual red & green of the season!

I used the We R Memory Keepers North Pole collection to create this card. The inside of the card matches the background. I just loved the polkadots and teal + red = happiness in my world! I love that color combo! I also used a bit of Glitter Ribbon along with Lawn Fawn Stamps and some nesting scalloped dies to create the shape of the card.

I got the idea of a shaped card and learned how to make it stand from Kristina Werner's Blog which I have been following all season. Love her designs!

So go ahead and and pull out your holiday papers, you might be surprised at what you are able to create! Thanks for stopping by!

Thanksgiving Placecards (Almost)!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my US friends! I hope that you have the chance to sit down and celebrate with those that you hold dear today!

I wanted to share a little project that I made for our little Thanksgiving table this year.

We typically don't use place cards at our personal family table but I love the idea of them! I decided to create some cards to put at each place setting that shared a little message rather than state the name.

The combo of the fall colored papers (thanks to my win from DCWV) along with some sequins and twine seemed very autumn-ish to me!

I thank you for stopping by to take a look today and I am grateful to YOU, my lovely blog followers for your kind comments and blog views! The blogging world is a very fun and inspiring place and I appreciate your part in it!

Happy Thanksgiving!

A Thankful Heart

Once I started collecting so many pretty papers, ribbons, buttons, etc. I made a vow that I would not purchase greeting cards anymore. I've found that if I buckle down, I can make all of the cards that I typically send out in a year. Time is my biggest challenge but it has been working so far!

This is a card that I made for my Grandpa who is in a care facility in the neighboring town. Although I get the chance to see him pretty often, his love of receiving mail has me creating little things to send to him from time to time. And the fact that I've inherited my need for symmetry from him...

My Grandpa hangs his cards in his room on each side of the doorway. He likes to make sure that they are evenly hung with equal amounts on each side. His Thanksgiving cards were one off so I had to make sure to send my card A.S.A.P. to get those cards symmetrical again! :) I am like that with pretty much everything as well; I love discovering little similar connections like that!

I recently won a prize over at DCWV and they sent an extremely generous prize! Three of their stacks arrived at my door! I loved all of them and got to work using one of them on this card.

I am so grateful for so many things today. My Grandpa being one! 85 years old and, with the exception of Alzheimer's, he is a pretty healthy guy! I also am so grateful for the opportunity to create. I'd love to do it more often but for now I am thankful for the moments I get!

What are you thankful for today?

Thankful for...Ribbon Carousel Challenge: Holidays and Celebrations!

Hello Everyone! So happy to be sharing my creation for the Ribbon Carousel Challenge with you today! Since those of us in the US will be celebrating Thanksgiving in a couple of days, I wanted to share a card that I made to send out to my loved ones to offer a bit of inspiration! The theme for this challenge is: Holidays and Celebrations.

I've really been using the cut out image of shapes on my cards lately. And, of course, who doesn't love a good scalloped circle? Ha! My obsession with scalloped anything continues.

And just a bit of burlap ribbon at the bottom, gives the card a little texture and dimension!

I am certain that there will be a lot of holiday crafting going on this month! Be sure to stop by the Ribbon Carousel Blog to get all of the rules and link up your Holidays & Celebrations creation and you could be the proud owner of a new Ribbon Carousel! You could give yourself a little gift, you never know! :) Just be sure to create a NEW project and use ribbon, twine, thread, washi tape, wire or anything that comes on a spool on your creation!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Ribbon Carousel Holiday Blog Hop

Hey everyone! We've got such a treat in store for you this weekend! To celebrate all of those beautiful Ribbon Carousels being used around the world (yes, we've shipped Carousels to 27 countries now!) to keep ribbon, twine, washi tapes and spooled items tidy, we'll be hopping around our amazing Crewmates blogs for the next 4 days showing you all of the beautiful and creative ways that our designers use THEIR Ribbon Carousels!

Take a look at how I've loaded up my Ribbon Carousel! I've never had a spot for all of my American Crafts ribbon and jute until I got my Ribbon Carousel. It was a perfect size for all of the spools.

I also wanted to store the ribbon that I use the most on my Ribbon Carousel for easy access. So, since I use a lot of white tulle and blue & gold twine (our school colors) I added those to my carousel as well.

One of my favorite parts of  the Ribbon Carousel is the gorgeous knob at the top. It is so solid and sturdy and well...sparkly and pretty! :)

Would you like to win your very own Ribbon Carousel? Here is what you need to do: Visit the Designer’s blogs that are participating in each day of the blog hop and comment on their posts as you go. One of the Crewmate’s Holiday blogs (from each hop day) will be randomly chosen as the ‘it’ blog and a winner will be picked using a random number generator from the comments left on that Crewmate’s Holiday Blog Hop post.

You will not know which blog has been chosen so the more Crewmate Blogs you comment on, the better your chances are of winning your very own Ribbon Carousel! The Blog Hop will be open until 11:59 PM Eastern Time Monday, November 25th with the winners being announced Tuesday morning on the Ribbon Carousel Blog.

Already have a Ribbon Carousel?  Share a photo of YOUR Ribbon Carousel on our FaceBook page OR email it to info@ribboncarousel.com, and we'll share it for you!  You'll be in special drawing  for your choice of a Ribbon Carousel or 4 packages of spools!

For  those  that  want  a  Ribbon  Carousel  NOW!  Mark  your  calendar!  We'll  be  having  our  LOWEST  SALE   PRICE  of  the  YEAR  sale  on  the  Ribbon  Carousels  and  Spools  beginning  Wednesday,  November  27th--Cyber--Monday, December  2nd! No  coupon  code  needed! Just  go  to  our store  and  enjoy  some   happy  shopping!
Here  are  the  participants  for  Day  4  of  the  Ribbon  Carousel  Holiday  Blog  Hop.  Enjoy!

Thankful Project and Exciting News!

Hello! I am so happy that you stopped by today since I have a pretty little project to share with you along with some exciting news! First, my project...

The coloring is a bit off, I apologize for that. Anyway, this is a little favor box that I made recently for WRMK when they were featured on HSN. I used their Harvest collection, which I continue to find so pretty and versatile.

I used the WRMK Chevron Washi Tape around the outside of the box and I loved the layered look it created! That washi tape is simply gorgeous on products and really fun to play with!

I used a Silhouette cut on my Cameo for the shape of the box and adjusted it to be the size I was desiring. I then used pop dots to pop up the sentiment and washi for the outside of the box.

And, the sentiment on my little box says it all since I am so thankful to WRMK for allowing me this opportunity...

If you have been looking around on my blog, this has been here for a while but I thought I'd wait until my month of gratitude to share my exciting news! I am so excited to be designing for We R Memory Keepers! It is definitely a blessing and a privilege to be a part of the We R Memory Keepers design team! I hope to be able to design projects that truly showcase WRMK products!

I still find it a little surreal to have this opportunity and I couldn't be happier! Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that this month allows you some time for gratefulness as well!

Double, Double Toil & Trouble

Just a quick blog post today sharing a little (well, actually...big) pillow box that I made yesterday!

I don't often get into the whole Halloween thing. As much as I love fall and all of the goodness that it offers, Halloween just isn't my thing. I do love getting crafty with really great product though! I used Authentique Paper's Enchanted for the paper and embellishments. I also used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the pillow box but I made it bigger to have a bigger space in which to design.

My plan is to fill it with some yummy things and give it to my youngest's teacher. Since Trick or Treating is on a school night, she may need a little something to get her through the next school day!

Thank you for stopping by today!

Hello! Today I am sharing a card that I made for the monthly challenge over on the Ribbon Carousel Blog! It would be so much fun if you would play along! This is the card that I made for the Design Team inspiration.
I love Fall and the whole idea of the Harvest Moon and the change of seasons. I played with some older Halloween/Autumn collections that I had from Pebbles and American Crafts and came up with this cute little card to celebrate Autumn! Below is all of the information you need to play along! I hope you do!

This is the fourth week of our Monthly challenge.

This month's theme is Fall anHalloween!

Do you know what the prize is for this amazing challenge?

How about a Ribbon Carousel?!

Each month we are giving away a Ribbon Carousel to one of our randomly chosen challenge participants!

Just a reminder that our Ribbon Carousel Crewmates have divided up into FOUR teams.  Each week you will see fresh projects for this month's challenge!

Almost the Beatles

Let it Be. Hard Days Night. All You Need is Love. There are so many Beatles songs that I love. Although the Beatles hey day was before my time, we listened to them growing up all the time. I can seriously attribute my musical knowledge of various genres to my parents who played everything from Music Box Dancer to John Denver's Shanghai Breezes to Peter, Paul & Mary's Blowin' in the Wind, we listened to that plus all of the current day music. I am still grateful for the love of music that they instilled in me and my sisters!

This layout was special to make because it focused on a moment that celebrated that music!

We had the chance to see a Beatles cover band called "The Cavern Beat" this summer while on vacation. It was so much fun to listen to music performed live and to bring back memories of putting Beatles records on the console stereo singing the same songs with my sisters and running around the dining room! Good times, good times...

So, when I saw the sketch over at DCWV, I decided that it would be perfect to scrap these photos! My favorite parts are the bling that I added and the cork "paper" from the Cork Stack. So much fun to use! I also embossed paper from the Fiber Stack and love how that turned out as well.

It was so fun to play with paper that is made from a different texture. I also have the adhesive fabric stack so I am anxious to give that a try too! Thanks for stopping by today!

Flashback Phrase

I may date myself here but remember the show Friends? Remember the one where Phoebe has a theory that Ross is Rachel's lobster? Refresh your memory by watching this YouTube video if needed! While Phoebe's theory may not be completely accurate (so much for learning scientific facts from sitcom television), that phrase came back to me while creating this layout.

Our first lobster boil together. Nathan's first lobster ever. That title was too perfect to pass up! I love to experience new things with him. And, if after 19 years together, we still can find fun, new experiences, I am happy!

Plus, he is my lobster (according to Phoebe's logic anyway) and that makes me happy! You know what else makes me happy? SEQUINS! Seriously, I love them. Probably more than a 40 something year old should. The best thing is that I found a new way to use them. See that line of sequins at the top? That is ribbon tape adhesive in a line with the sequins all stuck on. I love how it looks!

I used my newly purchased Glitz Color Me Happy papers (thanks ScrapbookSteals!) and some glitter letters from Pink Paislee's Luxe collection to put it all together...and a few more sequins! :)

I also used the sketch from the Paper Bakery this week. I really like Juliana Michael's sketches. Pretty much every single one inspires me to create. She's kind of a sketch superstar in my world!

I am so glad that you stopped by today! I hope you'll visit again soon!

It's Fall Y'All!

It's the most wonderful time of year! I know many people say that for the holiday season (which I also adore!) but seriously...I love fall!!

We are fortunate to have the change of seasons here in the Midwest and looking out my backdoor I get to enjoy each of them. Since Fall just happens to be one of my favorites, so I decided to celebrate that fact.

I used the gorgeous Harvest collection from We R Memory Keepers to create this little framed piece. HSN recently had "crafting week" (or day?) and this was one of the pieces that I created to show off the awesome WRMK chevron washi tape! Isn't it fun? I love the embossed tags and stickers that come with the collection. So, so pretty!

Thank you for stopping by to take a look today!

Little Tangles Guest Designer

Hello Everyone!

Today I am so excited to share a card that I made for the current challenge over at the Little Tangles Challenge Blog! Challenge #22 is, "Make your own patterned paper." Here is the card that I created...

I've really been enjoying playing with my watercolors lately and I thought I'd create a slight ombré look with my blue paint. (I also played around with the red but couldn't get the shade of pink I was hoping for!) When my blue dried, it reminded me so much of a winter scene so I decided to make an early winter card topped off with jingle bells and tulle!

I hope that you will stop over at the Little Tangles Blog today! I am grateful to Ren-Yi for giving me the opportunity to design for her today! Thank you for stopping by!

Happy Place

Hello All!

So how can one person be super happy and super sad at the same time? I am not sure, but that is how I am feeling today. I am happy because I have a fun project up over at the Kiwi Lane blog today using some of my favorite designer templates (Hello Tiny Brackets!) but I am also sad because this is my last blog posting as a Kiwi Lane Design Team member! That went SO fast but it was SO fun! What an amazing group of people I got to work with!

I also had the opportunity to work with one of my favorite collections from Summer CHA 2013 (see my post here where I declared my love!) the Simple Stories "Say Cheese" collection. It has a Disney vibe, but as you can see above, it does not have to be Disney related!

I made this sign to hang on our front door and it makes me smile every time! The moment I saw that 3x4 card, I knew what I wanted to center the design around. I love our home. I am a huge homebody and occasionally need to remind myself to leave the house just for fun sometimes! The thing is, there were oodles & oodles of sentiments, stickers, papers, cards, etc. to choose from with this Simple Stories collection!

Even better, I was crafty with my paper use and have a lot left to make a few layouts of our Disney trip as well since those layouts are long overdue! You may be seeing more of this in the future!

I appreciate you taking a look at my blog today and I hope that you will take a look over on the Kiwi Lane Blog to see some closeups as well as the process! I also have to say a huge "THANK YOU" to all of the people over at Kiwi Lane. It has been a pleasure working with you. I am blessed!

It's a Dash!

Hello! Today I am sharing a card that I made for the 10 Minute Craft Dash over at the Pretty, Pink, Posh blog. I love the color combos that Paulina chooses for the various dashes but this one in particular looked like fun! My husband and I have a wedding coming up so I thought I'd play along.

I used some of my Lawn Fawn stamps for the sentiment and the birdies along with my Kiwi Lane scallops border. I also used (mostly) WRMK papers Harvest collection. In order to keep it under ten minutes, there are a few things that I had to forego, but it was a fun little card to make! And, the final time was 9:13!

Also, I want to say welcome to my new followers who joined in on the Kiwi Lane blog hop. It was fun reading your comments! My random.org winner is:
Stephanie, if you could email me (or leave a message in the comments) your email address, I will be in touch to get your contact information! Thanks for hopping along!

Now that my kiddos are in school, I am so hopeful that I can get more crafty time in! So far, it has just been me playing catch up but I did get a new workbench at a rummage sale this summer and I cannot wait to get it ready to go! I will share my craftiness as I get it done! Until next time...

September Blog Hop with Kiwi Lane

If you are looking for the Kiwi Lane Blog Hop, you've come to the right place! You should have arrived here from Leslie's blog >>http://www.scrapsofmine.blogspot.com<<!

This blog hop is a little bittersweet for me since it is the last official hop that I will get to be a part of as a KLD Design Team member. What a fun and amazing time it has been to be a small part of such a great company. For my last hop, I used a variety of my favorite templates to create some sweet baby goodness.

I love using the designer templates to create soft, flowing lines and scallops! Layouts seriously come together so easily, especially when I chose to use some of my favorites like Scallops, Tiny Tags and Sunnybrook Lane! (I allowed myself some creative freedom in choosing my templates this month, I hope you don't mind!)

I loved creating a layout of my niece and the photos I took of her as a newborn back in March. I was so happy with how the photos came together and to be able to feature the photos by framing them with the KLD Templates was perfection!

I used some of Elle's Studio Serendipity as well as a bit of Crate Paper's Maggie Holmes collection. Very feminine products and perfect for a baby girl page!

I am so glad that you decided to hop along with Kiwi Lane today! Since this is my last post as a KLD Design Team member, I'd like to have one last giveaway! All you need to do is:
  • Leave me one comment below and tell me what you are most looking forward to this Autumn.
  • Become a follower of this blog.
I will choose a winner for some scrappy goodness next Thursday, Sept. 12th! And remember, leave a comment on each blog along the way and you could win some scrappy swag from this incredible Simple Stories collection! Kiwi Lane will also be choosing a winner next Thursday (9/12).

(Also, keep in mind that the paper will be awarded to a US or Canadian resident and if the winner is outside of those areas, they will receive a $25.00 gift code to the Kiwi Lane shop instead!)

Now keep on hopping to the next stop along the hop and head over to the lovely and talented Charissa >>http://www.akihasmommascraps.com<< to see what magic she's created for you!

August Blog Hop with Kiwi Lane

Can you believe it is August already?? I am still wondering where June went! One of the best things about August is that there is another Kiwi Lane Blog Hop to participate in! Hooray!

Don't forget that a random winner from ONE of the participating blogs (including the Kiwi Lane blog), will be given a $25gift certificate to the Kiwi Lane Shop, for leaving a comment and will be announced on the Kiwi Lane blog on Thursday, August 8th.

There were some fun designer templates used this month! I had the chance to use several templates and particularly enjoyed using my Journey templates on this layout.

I was trying to decide which papers to use for this layout and then I remembered this Sassafras collection from way back when. Talk about perfect for the topic!

I loved how I could use the Journey 2 & 5 templates and create the little monster "badge" on this page! I also used the Sunnybrook Lane templates to create the angled border in the corner.

On the second half of the layout, I liked how the use of the Journey 1 arrow template draws your attention to the title. I also needed just a little something at the top of the page and the Sunnybrook Lane templates worked perfectly there too!

I hope that you enjoyed my little spot along the blog hop today! Next, you should hop along to the über talented Leslie Prinkki's blog >>>HERE<<< and see what awesomeness she has in store!

As always, thanks for stopping! Don't forget to leave a comment to try to win that gift card! I'd love to know: When you hop along on blog hops do you prefer short and concise blog posts or longer more detailed ones? I aim to please :)
